Hey guys. Isn’t water amazing stuff?! You probably already know that our bodies are made up of around 65% water, and that without it we can’t survive more than a few days. But maybe you’ve never really thought about how just the simple act of drinking more water can impact on so many areas of your life.
The advice on what is the right amount of water to be drinking varies. Some say around 8 glasses (8oz), other recommend you take your bodyweight in pounds, divide in half and drink that much in ounces over the course of a day

For those on the Wes Myron Fitness Elite Performance Lifestyle Plan, you’ll already know a lot about the benefits of staying hydrated, but for those who are thinking about making some changes to achieve a healthier lifestyle, here’s a few reasons why drinking more water is a great place to start.

1. Increase your energy and reduce fatigue

The brain needs water to function properly. Staying hydrated is going to have an amazing impact on your focus, alertness and concentration – all of which are the absolute building blocks of being motivated to eat and exercise well, consistently.

2. Improve your digestion

Drinking plenty of water helps keep your gut working efficiently, so your body is able to effectively break down and absorb the nutrients from the food you’re eating.

3. Prevent headaches and migraines

Have you ever just felt really tired and rundown with a sore head? Chances are you could be dehydrated. Tension headaches occur when we’re not taking on enough water. Better than trying to treat headaches after they occur is to prevent them happening in the first place, by sipping enough water throughout the whole day.

4. Reduce your calorie intake

If you’re in the habit of hydrating with sugary sodas or even juices, you are going to be significantly increasing your daily calorie intake without even realizing it! Switching to only drinking water is not only cheaper, but completely calorie neutral.

5. Get rid of toxins

The more water you’re drinking, the better your body is going to be able to flush through anything it doesn’t need, through sweating and urination. The kidneys naturally filter waste products from the body, but they need enough water to work at their best. Staying hydrated can reduce the risk of UTI’s, kidney stones or constipation. If you’re working out, you’re going to be getting warm (hopefully!) and sweating too – it’s essential you replace this fluid.

6. Get the glow

Drinking plenty of water has a great effect on your skin. When we’re dehydrated, skin cells can appear dry and feel tight, which is going to increase the appearance of fine lines. If your skin is feeling dull, or your complexion needs a little help, try upping your water intake. Staying properly hydrated can help skin appear plumper, which in turn is going to give you a healthy looking glow.

7. Reduce the risk of injury

Finally, staying hydrated has been shown to reduce the risk of injuring joints and tendons during exercise. By drinking plenty of water, your joints are going to stay well lubricated, and studies have shown that water may even reduce inflammation and promote good cartilage health.

So what are you waiting for?! Get yourself a reusable bottle, and make sure you’re sipping throughout the day, and especially when you’re working out if you want to give your lifestyle that extra healthy boost.
